Great Wildebeest Migration Kenya Tanzania safari

Experience Africa's four greatest wildlife parks in one epic 9-day journey. Start in Kenya's iconic Masai Mara, then cross the border into Tanzania for the world-famous Serengeti plains and the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater — the world's largest intact caldera — before finishing with Amboseli's spectacular elephants and Kilimanjaro views. Five days in the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem guarantees the best migration viewing possible.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

1

Nairobi → Masai Mara National Reserve

Depart Nairobi at 7:00 AM. Drive via Narok, stopping at the Great Rift Valley Viewpoint. Arrive at your Masai Mara lodge for lunch. Afternoon game drive (4:00–6:30 PM) encountering the Mara's legendary predators and herds.

Overnight: Mara lodge (full board)

2–3

Full-Day Game Drives — Masai Mara

Two full days exploring the Masai Mara — Africa's most densely populated wildlife area. Pursue Big Five sightings, cheetah hunts, and migration river crossings (July–October). Your guide will cover the main circuit, Mara Triangle, and Mara River area. Picnic lunches served in the field.

Overnight: Mara lodge (full board) × 2 nights

4

Masai Mara → Cross into Tanzania → Serengeti

Morning game drive in the Mara. Depart for Tanzania via the Isebania border crossing (Kenya–Tanzania). Our guide facilitates all border formalities. Continue to the Serengeti National Park — the "endless plains" — for a late afternoon game drive as you arrive. The southern Serengeti connects directly to the Masai Mara, and the migration herds flow between the two ecosystems.

Overnight: Serengeti lodge (full board)

5

Full-Day Game Drive — Serengeti National Park

Full day in the Serengeti — Africa's most famous national park. The Serengeti has Africa's highest concentration of large predators. Watch for lion prides, cheetahs on the open plains, leopards in acacia trees, and enormous elephant herds. During migration season, locate wildebeest herds moving across the vast open plains in their millions.

Overnight: Serengeti lodge (full board)

6

Serengeti → Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Morning game drive in Serengeti. Depart for the Ngorongoro Crater — the world's largest intact volcanic caldera. Drive up to the crater rim (2,286m) and check in at your rim lodge with breathtaking views into the crater floor. Sundowner drinks on the rim as the crater turns golden at sunset.

Overnight: Ngorongoro rim lodge (full board)

7

Full-Day Game Drive — Ngorongoro Crater

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater at dawn — one of Africa's most extraordinary experiences. The crater floor (265 sq km) contains approximately 30,000 permanently resident animals. Kenya's best odds for black rhino sightings. Also: enormous lion prides, dense elephant populations, hippo pools, and vast herds of wildebeest and zebra that never leave the crater. Visit the famous Lerai Forest and Ngoitoktok Springs.

Overnight: Ngorongoro rim lodge (full board)

8

Ngorongoro → Cross Back to Kenya → Amboseli

Depart Ngorongoro and cross back into Kenya via Namanga border. Continue to Amboseli National Park, Kenya. Arrive for lunch. Afternoon game drive — spot enormous free-ranging elephant herds with Mount Kilimanjaro's snow-capped peak looming behind them. This is Africa's most iconic photography backdrop.

Overnight: Amboseli lodge (full board)

9

Amboseli → Nairobi (Safari Ends)

Early morning game drive in Amboseli for dawn light photography — Kilimanjaro is often clearest in early morning before clouds form. Return to lodge for breakfast. Drive back to Nairobi, arriving mid-afternoon. Drop-off at hotel or JKIA airport. Your 9-day African adventure ends.
